The Dove Inn
Located in the heart of downtown Golden, CO is the most charming boutique bed and breakfast you’ll ever find. The Dove Inn. When I arrived I knew I’d love it simply because of the rustic charm the outside had. The cute little front porch, the chairs to relax in below the front porch under trees lined with lights. The vine that has grown up along the bay windows and the adorable path with plants and flowers all around. As soon as you walk into this newly renovated home built in 1866 it feels like you’re home. With touches of antiques, and a flair of Chip and JoAnna Gaines, this place will have you wanting to stay and enjoy. Every single detail was carefully thought about to provide the coziest and most beautiful setting for a perfect weekend getaway with your loved one. Cozy up on the leather couch in the living space with the large knit blanket, and enjoy while reading your favorite book or sipping tea. The ceiling fan was one of my favorite touches. It was operated by a pulley system and was across the entire downstairs living area. The velvet couch is in the perfect shade of yellow and gives the room a perfect glamorous feel.
The bathroom is what ultimate relaxation dreams are made of. The deep bathtub is perfect for long soaks with a the provided lavender bath bomb! All the finishes and decor are gold and match perfectly with the marble and subway tile backsplash. The simple and minimal design is so aesthetically pleasing. There is a crystal chandelier hanging just above the bathtub that gives a warm glow in the evening. I love bringing candles with me when I travel. I read about it years ago, and it has become a tradition for me to bring one. This fresh peach candle is sold by Thalken Mercantile in downtown Lafayette, CO. It’s smells so delicious and reminds me so much of summer and it brought just the right scent to this weekend. The walk in shower was to die for with the large cascading shower head and the delightful smelling bath products. We cozied up in the robes while we relaxed.
The kitchen and dining room are divided from the the living space with a solid brick fireplace. Each morning you are welcome to a continental breakfast while you sip on fresh brewed coffee or if you’re really needing a caffeine kick enjoy the nitro drip! There’s a self serve coffee bar available for you anytime as well as a fully stocked kitchen. The design of this kitchen is what I’ve always wanted. Deep blue cabinets, gold finishes and marble countertops. A stylish yet cozy kitchen to complete the downstairs.
Each room is designed with a special theme in mind. All rooms have antique furniture and with the nature and condition this hotel is not suited for children under 10 years old. If you’re looking for the relaxing getaway without the hassle of a busy hotel this place is perfect. We chose the Serenity suite as it fit exactly what we were looking for. This was the perfect size room for our night out. Depending on the length of your stay and what you’re looking for, you can choose from a selection of rooms, suites, a studio or even the carriage house! Of course the larger the room, the more features you get! When looking to book be sure you look at each room and find the on that speaks to you and what you’re hoping to get.
The Serenity Suite had a luscious king size bed with the softest sheets and a down comforter. The wall behind the bed were my favorite shiplap white walls. There was a small gas fireplace that would emit heat or just the light from the fire. A teal couch that you would just sink back into with cute throw pillows. My favorite pillow was the cream square one that read “Stay a while.” It spoke directly to me, as one night was not long enough! The had an antique armoire to hold our clothing and luggage. As we lied down to relax from the day we enjoyed the free WiFi and Netflix on the TV before we fell into a deep sleep.
If you want to venture out and explore the downtown area you simply can walk to the end of the street to Washington Street and you’ll find restaurants, bars, shopping, ice cream, a wine bar, and even a fun toy and candy store. You can walk down to Clear Creek and experience the water by kayaking, lying in a hammock between the trees, dipping your toes in and just watching the creek pass by or rent a bicycle and enjoy the paths. There are a few parks you can have a picnic under the trees, there’s a volleyball court, you can even feed chickens along the Clear Creek path and there’s even the library right off Washington Street. If you’re a beer drinker like I am, then you’ll really love to take a tour of The Coors Brewery and receive free beers in the tasting room! Be sure to check VisitGolden.com for their calendar of events and make sure you book this sweetest little boutique The Dove Inn on your next visit!
With kindness and love, Kenzie
