It's officially Summertime!!! We look forward to Summer literally all year. As soon as it's here, we try to enjoy it as much as possible! What is everything that comes to mind when you think of summer? Swimming, pool days, patio weather, cooking out, melons and citrus fruits, fresh lemonade, lawn games, vacations, fireflies, flowers, sunshine, freckles, sunsets, bright colors and patterns I could go on and on right?!
I've complied my favorite activities and fun places to visit to make the most out of this summer!
Berry Picking at a local farm has to be one of the BEST ways to kick off summer. You can search Pickyourown.org to search in your area to find one near you! You're able to walk the fields and pick your very own strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and some even have veggies and fresh flowers you can clip straight off the stem! A fun recipe to try with your fresh berries is the Berry Breakfast Pizza! It's so simple and delicious!!
Cooking/Grilling out is THE best way to spend a summer weekend. You can cook hamburgers, kabobs, chicken, steak, hotdogs, BBQ, and so many more options. We use the app Yummly to get new ideas and even select some trending recipes. We always incorporate game night into our cookouts. If you haven't played giant jenga or lawn bowling you're missing out!! Pinterest has a TON of simple ideas from lawn twister to DIY connect four your next get-together. We have giant Jenga, corn hole, and scrabble. It is seriously a BLAST!! It's such a fun way to bring friends and family together and really enjoy those summer nights!
If it's a really hot day and you just can't seem to beat the heat, go SWIMMING!! Here in Colorado we have some really cool swimming holes that are not too far for a day trip! 303 Magazine has a great article covering all the places to be in Colorado. My personal favorite has to be floating the river! We have been so many times in Texas and it never gets old. Around Austin and just south in New Braunfels. Be sure to check the rivers homepage like this one here. It gives up to date information on the current condition of the river so you can plan accordingly. Also be sure to be aware of the river rules! Stay safe and have so much fun!!
Music festivals and concerts are a great time for EVERYONE. I personally love country summer concerts. I'll literally go anywhere to see Randy Rogers perform. They have been my favorite band since I first heard them play live at Billy Bob's Texas in 2008! I love going to county fairs and local venues to see new talent or my favorites. The best venue in Colorado hands down is Red Rocks Amphitheater! It's been around since 1906! You will never forget your experience if you see a concert here. It's truly amazing with incredible sound. Add it to your bucket list! Trust me ;)
What is on your summer bucket list of things you really would love to do?! Leave them in the comments so we can share ideas!!
With Kindness & love, Kenzie
